Rodger Moore's .44 magnum from Live and Let Die. Walther PPK of course and three others.
Guns are illegal in England. Men were Eastern European. (Putin's guys?) Movie style heist.
Five James Bond guns stolen in brazen robbery in England
Re: Five James Bond guns stolen in brazen robbery in England
Breaking news: the thieves left behind the Beretta M418, Bond's gun in the first five novels. They left it behind because Ian Fleming was never actually a gun guy, and he chose the M418 because it was small and he thought it looked like a spy's pistol. The M418 is a straight blowback gun with fixed rear notch and front blade sights, a 7-round magazine, and chambered in .25 ACP with a 3.5" barrel which is, admittedly, a step up from throwing rocks at the bad guy...but still not the best choice. Fleming had Bond carry the thing with the grip panels removed, and a "silencer" screwed into that short barrel with the underpowered cartridge.

Why on earth did Bond supposedly have the grip panels removed? I’m really curious as to what advantage Fleming thought that conferred.Rafe wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 7:10 pm Breaking news: the thieves left behind the Beretta M418, Bond's gun in the first five novels. Andy's got the only reason I can possibly think of. Certainly it wasn't an experiment to see how much lint can accumulate in the firing mechanism.
Turns out there aren't many good pictures of this small, ugly gun on the web. You'll have to use your imagination to figure out what the pistol would look like with no grip panels and a suppressor hung on the end of it.

Maybe they couldn’t get anyone else to steal them.Rafe wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 11:10 am Andy's got the only reason I can possibly think of. Certainly it wasn't an experiment to see how much lint can accumulate in the firing mechanism.
