2011 Legislative Session Start Date?

I was just wonder what the dates for the upcoming session are.
How long does it last?
Once a bill is passed approximately how long until it becomes law?

The legislature convenes January 11. The session runs for calendar 140 days, ending May 30. Most bills that pass and are signed by the governor take effect Sept. 1. Some take effect January 1 of the following year.

The state is really good about putting this information online. As a recent arrival to Texas, I have tried to make effective use of it.

I hope it doesn't get cut in the looming budget catastrophe.
