I do want legislation passed that allows more firearms freedom, but when the most innocent are being deprived of life, I can patiently wait for my freedom.

Are there any pro-life demonstrations planned to counter the Wendy Davis kooks? Horrible how the media is fawning all over her and are propping her up to turn Texas "blue".

From the forum rules:

11. Off-topic posts/threads: Since they tend to cause the most problems for other boards, our "off-topic" sub-forum is not an "anything goes" area. Absolutely no discussions of religion, immigration/border security, abortion, race matters, or any other hot-button political issues. (Gun-related political issues can be discussed in other areas.)
I might suggest that discussing the merits of abortion are not germane to whether Perry steps up for gun rights. If one is happy with his focus, good for you or not. However, I am concerned that he has the opportunity and has several times to be proactive on campus carry (and other gun issues) and doesn't take the time.

The students, faculty and staff at Virginia Tech or Northern Illinois and perhaps future victims in TX (remember the AK guy lately at UT) might view the issue as important.

You are correct and I do not deny the importance of the issue of campus carry along with other firearms legislation. Since the special session was called specifically for abortion and that cannot be ignored.

That said, special sessions are called by the governor for specific purposes, and lambasting Perry because he does not include other legislation is pointless.

Those of us who pay attention to what goes on in the legislature know where the problem exists, and it is not with Governor Perry.

We must disagree on whether he stepped up to the plate to counter the problems existing in the legislature.

The restrictions on a basic human right that "shall not be infringed" combined with the socialist programs funded by tax dollars suggests Texas is already a Blue State in practice.

The issue is simple. Perry was willing to go the extra step for one issue with vim and vigour. He would not for ours. This is not the first time as he didn't in the previous session.

About walking and chewing gum - do you have to shoot a coyote too? I apologize for this snide remark.

If he had not made a point of speaking in favor of carry everywhere, I would not be so harsh.

I looked at the bills that have been filed by going to the legislative website and then for the search - Legislature, picked 82(2) - 2013. Then in the search criteria box I first searched with just SB, and then again with HB. That's just what's been filed. I don't know how many of these they will actually take up.

It doesn't look like any gun bills have been filed.
