SB 179

#1

Post by txglock21 »

As far as I can see, this bill would change the minimum caliber of the qualifying weapon from a .38 to a .22. The only issue I have with this is from my simple-minded reading is that it say's something to the effect of "for application or renewing of a CHL". Does this mean we are going to have to go back to requalifying for our renewals?

It seems to me that this bill had been introduced in previous sessions and it looks like they neglected to remove that language when they tossed out renewal classes. I read nothing in SB179 that reinstates renewal classes or shooting quals.

It will probably get substituted in committee.

I guess so the Democrats (who all voted en block against OC & CC) can claim that they support the second amendment?

That... and they knew it was going to pass anyway. Choose your battles.

If they know it will pass anyways, what's the down-side to voting against? I agree with RH saying it's probably so they can show that they support 2A rights.

Well, assuming the rest of the legislative road is as smooth, if I ever have to qualify again it looks like I could use my Serbian pistol. ;-) From my OC hoster. That should be interesting.
