HB 937 & today's shooting in a college library

#1

Post by juno106 »

A college shooting is never a good thing. Condolences to all involved.

That being said, with a hearing scheduled for tomorrow (iirc), you might want to express any opinions you have about HB937 not being scheduled.
Good Morning Rep. (Name),

I assume that you are presently aware of this morning's shooting at Wayne Community College in Goldsboro, North Carolina. One person was killed. At least one person was shot in a college library.

As a politically active voter, if HB937 does not get out of the House Calendars Committee, I will regretfully understand it to be because you did not make its passage a priority.

I respectfully urge you in the strongest terms possible to ensure that HB937 passes out of the House with only those amendments that are acceptable to the author.

I supported the Republican party this past election. I am hopeful you will continue to support the Second Amendment.

Kind Regards,

Chairman Hunter: todd.hunter@house.state.tx.us

Thanks for the list of email addresses. Is that gmail account really the address for Lucio?

... and it continues...

Texas State University sends emergency alert after 'possible shots fired'

What will it take to allow HB 937 to be voted on by the full House?

A Luby's-like body count and Suzanna Hupp's return to the House?

Charlie?

Isn't making campus carry legal suppose to help prevent this? It's been proven that not having campus carry doesn't stop it.

No, the rep has an official House address -all House reps do. The quoted address seems to be for the City of Rio Hondo.

Here's Rep Lucio's real address, from his newsletter: eddie.lucio_iii@house.state.tx.us

By all means contact your Representatives but do not threaten them either overtly or otherwise.

I just wrote everyone on calendars about getting campus carry to the full house a few days ago. I will again in a week or so probably. I hate to hear about this shooting, but this is a prime example of why law abiding citizens should be able to lawfully carry on campuses of higher education.

And here's whats happening in Florida, sound familiar (just change senate to house)?

Florida campus carry legislation wobbling in state senate
A polarizing measure to allow legal concealed carry on public colleges and universities in Florida is sputtering after a senate committee chair has declined to bring it to a vote.

It has met fierce opposition from gun control groups who have paid for television ads against the measure.

April 21 is the last day for scheduled committee meetings.
