IN: Yet another Ex gets shot, no charges for defender

This occurred on 27 Jul, results of DA's investigation announced 20 Aug, I just read about it today:

https://www.abc57.com/news/home-invasio ... e-homicide
During the investigation, officers learned the female resident and Ellington had previously been in a relationship.

She told Ellington he was not welcome at the apartment and put his belongings in the trunk of a vehicle. She told police when Ellington called her, she told him his property was in the car and he wasn't welcome at the apartment, reports said.

She told police a short time later, Ellington came over to the apartment and demanded to be let inside. She refused and told him his belonging were in the car.

Fearing for her safety, the woman grabbed her handgun.

Ellington broke the door, came towards her and began hitting her, reports said.

She shot Ellington in self-defense, she told police.
And the DA found:
Witnesses, physical evidence, digital evidence, and forensic evidence showed the shooting was brought about by Ellington's actions and his death was a result of those actions, according to the prosecutor's office.
Cops also found the apartment door was splintered and debris from it scattered throughout the apartment. So it's a good idea to lock even flimsy door, as it provides evidence.

Glad she is ok. I don't think she should have let him get close enough to hit her could have ended badly for her.

For some reason, this reminds me of that Miranda Lambert song. "I'm going home, gonna load my shotgun, wait by the door and light a cigarette...."

Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence. - John Adams
