Atlanta suburburb Ellenwood, GA

Bread delivery guy sees employees running out of Hardees. Goes inside with his gun. Robber raises gun, bread guy shoots four times, two hits. Robber manages to run away, holes up in house with kids inside. SWAT surrounds house, eventually kids released and robber gives up, taken to hospital to treat GSWs, then booked into jail.
Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill released a statement praising Chilton for intervening and risking his life, ABC News reports.

Hill said he was so impressed with Chilton for “defending those who could not defend themselves” that he made the truck driver an honorary deputy and inducted him into the Sheriff’s Posse Hall of Fame.

Bravo to the bread man, Joseph Chilton! When the time came, he took action. And as far as both the articles cited, LEO praised him for what he did.
Do what you say you're gonna do.

So guy goes into a place to seek one someone to kill? That's capital murder.
Well, that's how a blue moron DA would spin it. Thank God this bread guy isn't in Houston or Austin, he might actually go free.
(But he should train some more - 4 shots fired and BG runs off and grabs some kids? That's a no-no in my book.)

2 hits out of 4 shots on a moving target that is shooting back at you, isn't all that bad. More and more often people these days are arming themselves with tiny lower-powered firearms. I'm willing to bet that the breadman wasn't shooting a Glock 17, or Full sized 1911.

First class truth for all of the above on the pocket pistol. BUT:
Bread man working - We have not heard from the Bread Company yet. Remember all the Pizza delivery people and 24hr "Stop & Rob" employees that have been fired for defending themselves. Pocket Pistol may well be all this guy could carry on this job. At any range w/ something like a back pocket Kel-tec 3AT or equivalent being under fire & depending on the range that is from very good shooting all the way to absolutely excellent and the pocket pistol accounts for the bad guy being able to run off.
I have to give this guy a :tiphat: and the Sherriff a 2nd Amendment Salute :patriot:

Carry 24-7 or guess right.

2 out of 4 hits is better than the police averages I have seen published (usually around 1 out of 5).

For example of the low end: https://www.sfchronicle.com/crime/artic ... 891451.php

In this case 3 misses was for the best.

Yikes.
No wonder the "suspect" fled. I'd be running if some bozo Barney was trying to murder me.
Especially when I am out on Sunday afternoon for a nice stroll with my assault umbrella.
I love it that they ended up jailing the poor umbrella-man. Afterall, it is California, all umbrellas are banned as deadly assault weapons. :smilelol5:
