2017 Tex. Leg. Session forum is open

#1

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

Well, I missed the opening date by a few weeks, but this forum is now open. It will close when the 2017 session ends. Remember, we still have the 2017 Wish List forum that may be appropriate for many topics until early filing begins next month.

I would like to see this section amended so that deferred adjudication is not considered a conviction. :tiphat:
(4) “Convicted” means an adjudication of guilt or, except as provided in
Section 411.1711, an order of deferred adjudication entered against a
person by a court of competent jurisdiction whether or not the imposition of
the sentence is subsequently probated and the person is discharged from
community supervision. The term does not include an adjudication of guilt or
an order of deferred adjudication that has been subsequently

It would be nice to see places that are restricted from carry removed.

Repeal TPC 46.035(b)(4), (5) and (6). Repealing (5) would force the Dallas Zoo to take down their signs.

Require govt agencies to apply for 06 & 07 signage, they must state where the sign is to be posted and why, no state permit no legal sign no barring entry to LTC!

I would like to see sections 46.02, 46.03, 46.035 and 46.05 replaced with whitespace.

We've had it since Sep 1, 2015.

I would like to require any business open to the public to also apply for a 30.06 to state why they are not allowing concealed carry. Same for businesses wanting to prevent their employees from carrying concealed.

I don't have a problem with prohibiting open carry, but concealed carry should not be restricted unless there is a specific, valid reason to do so.

  • I'd like 30.06 and 30.07 signs carry the same force of law that 'no shirt, no shoes, no service' signs do - which is none. I feel the business owner should have full right to expel anyone he/she wants from the business, for any valid reason, but the sign alone shouldn't have criminal force behind it.
  • Eliminate the prohibited places: racetracks, schools, sporting events, etc.
  • Eliminate the double-speak around churches, amusement parks, etc, that makes it illegal, but only if you have a sign. This adds confusion, and elevates the crime to a different level.
  • Eliminate the confusion on premises vs. property.
  • Clarify the courthouse building or portion of a building.
  • Require any government location that does legally bar us from carrying (e.g. courtroom, secure area of police station) provide secure storage - same as they do for their own officers - for our guns so we don't have to cross the parking lots disarmed.
And now for my dream list:
  • Make murder, rape, robbery illegal so the bad guys will stop it once and for all.
  • Require all liberal anti-gun demonstrators to collect and bottle their hysterical tears so we can use it as lubricant on our guns.
  • Pass a state law that refuses the federal government the right to build a wall on our border with Mexico, unless they first build one around Austin, and another (much taller, and more sound-proof) one around SheJack's office.
  • Cancel all flights into Texas from Washington DC & California. Outgoing flights are acceptable, and free of charge.
Your best option for personal security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.
When those fail, aim for center mass.
