It looks like the Texas Legislature is taking the possibility of an Article V Convention very seriously.
HJR 39 / SJR 2 Call for an Article V Convention to propose amendments to the constitution to impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, and to limit the terms of office of federal officials and members of Congress.
Additionally, HB506 / SB21 (Lieutenant Governor high priority bill) outline the qualifications, duties, and limitations of Texas delegates to a convention called under Article V of the United States Constitution.
This could get interesting...

How about we take care of reeling in our state officials while we're at it.

And county, city, judges, etc. who are elected to serve the people, not their own interests, beliefs and ideas.locke_n_load wrote:How about we take care of reeling in our state officials while we're at it.
The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager

Re: Article V Convention
You might not like the results of an article V convention. The tide can turn the other way too. You are not guaranteed that every proposed amendment would be to your liking. Be careful of what you wish for.
How about we just make the government live to the existing constitution?
Even with a convention, and if proposed amendments are confirmed by the states, the only way to enforce the constitution is the same way we have already. Think about it.

Re: Article V Convention
Since any amendment must be ratified by 3/4 of the states, it seems to me that this risk is minor, but maybe I'm missing something. Meanwhile, the constitution is being subverted every day without any of us having a say at all.You might not like the results of an article V convention. The tide can turn the other way too. This is the bigger issue for me. I think of the 10th amendment as an example of one that is completely ignored. It seems like we need an amendment that compels us to abide by the constitution! Silly.Even with a convention, and if proposed amendments are confirmed by the states, the only way to enforce the constitution is the same way we have already. Think about it.
