Cigar Box Guitar Practice Amp FS

#1

Post by kayt00 »

Started building little 9v cigar box practice amps. I've got two built right now one that's strictly running on a 9v battery and another that'll run on a battery as well as a 9v power supply (same as you'd use for a guitar pedal). They are both super basic and rely on the instrument for volume control. Hit me up if there's any interest.

Thanks.

I ran my bass, a schecter, through the El Jefe. Wasn't half bad and worked pretty decent.

What did you use to build yours?

Just a little wood box i found. Breadboarded a simple distortion circuit powered by a 9v battery. A small 2 inch speaker. Works fairly decently. Now I ha e a 50 cal ammo can that I cut two speaker holes in and now working on the electronics for a bass amp.

My current obsession/project is I am trying to figure out how to construct a travel guitar where the fretboard is composed of hollow sections that can retract into the body of the guitar in order to travel. I have a tension bar mechanism prototypesd for the strings. Just trying to figure out the guitar neck.

Don't judge my soldering skills... :banghead:

I like that enclosure. The guitar neck thing...uh...that's an ambitious project for sure and I wish you the best of luck on that one. When you pull that off it should be pretty sweet.

Price?

Pretty nifty. I've got a kid that might like one.
I bet his roommate would buy it for him.

This is how my first one turned out using parts from an old 70's or 80's Realistic alarm clock radio that I picked up from the Salvation Army. The Board I put together using some of those parts. The enclosure is the box from a Sprint wifi hotspot.

Nice. Would be interested except I no longer have any electric guitars and my Taylor is acoustic only.
