MantisX Basic Marksmanship patch
Anybody earn one of these patches with their MantisX?
I've used my MantisX quite a bit and with COVID shutting down the ranges recently decided to work towards my Basic Marksmanship patch using dryfire at home.
It makes you spread the practice sessions out over several days: MantisX Features
They have an Advanced Patch out now too.

It’ll be sewn to his sash.

What does the patch look like? I’ll only do it if the patch is cool.

I just remembered I have a MantisX on the way, it's been a week so I forgot I ordered it
Should get here today. I'm looking forward to trying it out.

You won't be disappointed... I didn't buy the Mantis, but got a G-Sight on Amazon for $39.00... I just use my tripod for my camera mount... You can download Mantis, G-sight, I-target apps for free.. There are some in app purchases if you want more options though.... They really are great trainers...

G-Sight actually looks pretty cool, I might have to try that too.Tex1961 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 1:09 pmYou won't be disappointed... Re: MantisX Basic Marksmanship patch
While I'm waiting on the patch in the mail, working on the Advanced Marksmanship patch. Basic was great practice, but not too difficult. Standards for Advanced are noticeably higher.

Re: MantisX Basic Marksmanship patch
Earned the Advanced Marksmanship patch over lunch. It was more dryfire to higher standards over a shorter number of required days. To complete you need 90% average on the 10 shot benchmark. Toughest was doing the 10 secondary hand only shots with an 80% shot minimum... MantisX kept picking up my safety or racking the slide, so it took several tries.
MantisX has been very helpful to me, but wonder if they will release a tougher standard?

Re: MantisX Basic Marksmanship patch
Advanced Marksmanship patch finally arrived. The Basic patch was shipped but somehow got lost or stolen. The package said MantisX on the outside, so I'm guessing somebody thought the package contained MantisX gear.

Paladin, do you use the MantisX system with live fire drills a lot as well? I have been looking for something like this, but wonder how well it would stand up to regular use in live fire. The goal system also doesn't hurt

Re: MantisX Basic Marksmanship patch
I just took a look at their site. This definitely seems valuable. Unfortunately, most of my handguns don't have rails, but I have a few that do. It seems like the same principle as the old "dime washer" drill in basic training that taught us to keep a rifle steady while pulling the trigger.

Re: MantisX Basic Marksmanship patch
I've run MantisX live fire on 9mm pistols and AR-15's with no issues.
Its a valuable tool for both dry and live fire. Honestly I've gotten more out of it than a lot of instructors. MantisX detects things an instructor can not and gives instant feedback.
You can purchase magazine plate mounts for MantisX. That's what I run on my Beretta 92FS. The magazine mounts can be helpful if you are practicing your drawstroke... but make practicing mag changes not so good, because you drop the MantisX with your magazine. That said there is still a ton of value in the tool.

Re: MantisX Basic Marksmanship patch
Thanks Paladin for the explanation, I will definitely look into getting one. Also really appreciate your description of the base plate mounts as I was wondering how that would work.
