I do believe this is a requalification year as well.

Always good times :)

I just scrolled through my emails from years past, & it seems the trend is somewhere between June to August the RSD will send out the Instructor Renewal emails.

The actual renewal classes usually don't start until around September, when the new laws generally take effect.

Legislature needs to end (usually May as they are only supposed to meet for 140 days for a regular session), DPS needs to determine what if any changes are made by the legislature, determine if any changes are needed to the test or instructional outline, and THEN we will figure out if it is going to be on-line or in-person. Either way, the norm is instructors will qual each other on the Demonstration of Proficiency. Hopefully this will be an on-line review the slides year and then we go through the I qual you, you qual me drill.

Before anyone asks, ALL of your ratings are renewed at the same time, LTC, SSC, and FRC depending on what you individually have. :tiphat:

Thanks for the replies everyone. I’ll just sit back and wait. If I don’t hear anything I’ll just call RSD and ask.

Looks like the instructors at the range where I work part time will be doing our "round robin" where one of us does the other four and then someone does him. Need to print and scan my most recent NRA cert.

Yeah, found my NRA certificate file after I got the email. I’ll get my 100 done as well with my fellow instructors this weekend. After spending three days in the rain at the DPS Academy for the first responder course a few months back I’m just happy I don’t have to go back up there this year.

A shout out to any instructors in the DFW area, if you need someone to test you, send me a private message and I’m glad to help out. I have range privileges in Frisco, Plano, and McKinney if that helps.

Question.

For renewals when we issue an LTC-100 for another instructor, do we have to do an LTC-8 as well ?

NEVERMIND.. Of course we do.... Just lost my mind for a minute.
