'Instructor' license

#1

Post by Scott B. »

With my shiny, new instructor's certificate hanging on the wall, I'm wondering when I'll get an updated license. Guessing it's not until next renewal?

If you mean one with the word 'Instructor' on it, you have to fill out a CHL-70 form available here, and write the word Instructor on the top. You might also add a cover letter with it. You will have to send in $25 with the CHL-70 and they will send you another license. Your expiration date will not change.

Keith -- my last CHL renewal automatically came with "Instructor" printed on it. No form required.

Right. Mine too. But wasn't sure if it was because I already had 'Instructor' on mine or if they would automatically add it at renewal.

Mine was automatic upon first renewal after becoming an instructor.

It is added at renewal time if you received an instructor cert before the renewal. Otherwise, fill out the form and pay the money to have a new one printed up that says "Instructor". The fee is for the re-print ahead of them sending a renewal license.

Mine said Instructor until my last renewal. I am a veteran and the renewal fee for that is $25. They put "Veteran" on my license. I used it the other day to get a Veteran discount at Texas Road House Cafe. (Using all the savings to buy bullets).

It's not something I need. Couple of years until renewal...but for $25 why not?
