Rewrite the LTC student test

#1

Post by skeathley »

Assuming there will be some changes to Texas gun laws, they will need to rewrite the test, anyway. There are two current problems I would like to see fixed.

Question 2 is poorly written.
Question 7 has a logical error

lots of students miss question 2 because they read it to fast. It is an easy question but about 15% of my students miss it. If I tell them to be careful with question 2 and read slowly about 25 % miss it

It's been more than 8 years since I took the test. Would you mind posting questions 2 and 7 so that I can following what you're talking about?
Thanks.

Posting test questions is a BAD idea. And would most likely invoke the wrath of the moderators.

Checked my records and couldn't find any who had missed question 7. Get a few who miss question 2 every once in a while.

If you get consistent misses on a particular question, it's a good clue about what to adjust in your presentation.

I have not had a student fail the written exam and the questions that are missed are the ones that are marked with the first good answer, without reading all the answers. even though they are warned to do so.

Your concerns would be better expressed to the DPS privately and not on a public forum.

None of us can rewrite the test and any discussion will border on carelessness.

I certainly do not wish to bring the wrath of the moderators or, especially, the DPS down on any of us or the forum.

I haven't had a problem with 2 or 7.

I don't like 3. A lot of students miss 24. :(

It's okay to use question numbers, but don't discuss any subject matter. I realize that makes it difficult to discuss any specific issue, but we will not be giving hints about questions.
