The Wife's ammo experience at Wally World

#1

Post by Greybeard »

She got lucky early yesterday morning and latched on to 1,000 round of 9mm and 600 rounds of WWB in .380. :hurry: She said while the clerk was ringing it up, an older guy walked up to her and said "Where are you headed, Iraq?"

I trust she smiled and calmly replied, "No. We're ramping back up in Afghanistan now."

She did explain to the man that it is for use in 101 and CHL classes - and will probably be gone by the end of the month.

I ordered 1,000 rounds of .380 late last month from another "vendor" - for delivery supposedly by the end of April. Before shipping, it was already more expensive than the WWB she scored at Wal-Mart. When I went to their web site this week, it had gone up another $60 per 1,000. ! At present, it looks like Cabella's catalog actually has some of the "best" .380 pricing and lead times out there.

Ahhh. That sounds different to me. 1600 rounds for a business need sounds different than 1600 rounds 'cause they happen to be found.

Thanks and I hope the question didn't offend. If you have a spare box of LCP food, mine is pretty mal-nurished. :biggrinjester:

Maybe this might feed your Little Cute Pistol for a while. Mine seems to eat it OK. They also sell in smaller quantities if "on diet."

How the heck did your wife find ammo in any caliber at Wal-Mart? I found some of the beloved Remington Mega-Packs in .40 S&W back in December, but the clerk refused to sell it to me since it was 11PM due to a non-existing "State Law". Since then, I haven't found a single box of any kind of .40, 9mm, or .45 at my local Wal-Mart. :(

Okay, to get Ammo the easy way from your nearest walmart:
1) Spend 5-10 talking to guy behind the counter at walmart, be friend with him
2) Ask him when do you stock the daily delivery of Ammo? most probably between 7:30 AM and 8:30 AM
3) Show up at that date, at that said time and grab what you want.

Question: "How the heck did your wife find ammo in any caliber at Wal-Mart?"

Frequent shopper. Right place, right time. And, as said above, make friends.

One of our members told me last week that he drives by 5 different Walmarts on the way to work. Said he sometimes leaves early enough to stop and check ammo shelves at every one of 'em. Some days he gets lucky, most times not. But they are getting little shipments of various calibers here and there ....

Just how much ammo do we really need ? (( Just in case .... just in case of what ?? ...Major Drive by shootings ? Getting over run by the Del Webb / HEB, folks ?? ))
Don' t get me wrong ... I also like having afew extra rounds, just in case...but 1 0 0 0 s.......?
I also wonder, if N, we're not part of tha' problem with the ammo shortage(s).
Oh well ....(( MORE ... Ammo Sergeant !! )) :iagree:

Back when ammo was cheap it wasn't difficult to go through several hundred rounds in a weekend.

Boomerang....
Well, I gotta' admit it ... I made a dumb comment, in reference to why we think we might need 1000s of rounds of Ammo ...
I gotta' tell ya' ... If N, I had afew 1000 rounds .... I'd be at the Range, practicing my moves ...
Sorry to the original poster ... I'm in agreement with him and his Wife's thinking ! :iagree:

I must have ESP cause I saw a problem about 4 years ago and bought some good bullet casting and reloading equipment.I think one thing driving the ammo buying frenzy is the fact that they will put such a high tax on ammo that you can't afford it,but if you look at prices today they are slowly getting there.
It is said that if you line up all the cars in the world end-to-end, someone would be stupid enough to try to pass them
