Decisions, Decisions ...

#1

Post by Carry-a-Kimber »

I recently had to relocate my safe from the office turned nursery to another room in the house. Tis resulted in me emptying the safe and then rearranging all of my firearms to fit them back in. While all of my guns, optics, and accessories were sprawled out on the bedroom it got me to thinking. I have entirely too many toys I don't use nearly enough. Problem is, I don't have a bunch of stuff that is frivolous; I bought each item for a purpose and don't have much overlap as far as use is concerned. I have 5 hunting rifles (my wife and I both hunt), 3 rimfire rifles ( a target 10/22 and a 22 from each of my granddads), 2 hunting shotguns, an HD shotgun, 3 ARs (5.56, 7.62 & .300 BLK), an AK, a couple of SA revolvers, and some CC pistols. I have a few optics that I have had for over a year that don't have a weapon to go on and some AR parts (a complete lower and complete 308 upper) that I don't have real speific plans for. I listed 2 pistols for sale this morning and would like to list some other stuf but I am torn as to what to part with. :headscratch I know they are just "things" and can be easily replaced, but I have been accumulating this stuff for years. How do I decide?

Personally, I would keep it all.

Agreed. Sounds like you have a diverse collection.

The only areas I would trim is the 300blk AR if you don't have a suppressor for it, and maybe a hunting rifle or two since you have five. If you have unused optics, I guess they could go to, but I'd keep the spare AR parts.

That's only if you really feel the need to trim down, though. Unless I needed money, I don't think I would in your shoes.

What optics do you have that you'd be willing to part with, and what do you want for them?

SELL? ?

What are you thinking?

Don't you know that everytime you sell a gun an angel loses his wings?

I have only sold guns when it was the only way I could feed my kids. And lost several ounces of heart tissue and at least a pint of blood.

On the other hand I have given almost as many guns as gifts as I own.

If you took it out of the safe… it will fit back into the safe.

This should not be a question of what to sell, but rather a question about which model of larger safe you are going to upgrade to...

When we build in a couple of years I am "allowed" to get a built in safe. Until then the one I have will have to do as we live in an 80 year old bungalow with a pier and beam foundation. Aleady had to reinforce the floor for the current safe when I moved it in AND when I relocated it. :grumble I just hate to see all of this unused stuff......guess I need to hit the range more. :biggrinjester:

Well at least you have room for another Burris Fast Fire II when you get around to buying another one. :smilelol5:

And the sad part is, I'm sure I will. The intended purpose of the FF was to mount it offset on my 308 AR but the scope I am lusting for won't hit the market til December.
