Vid:Brazilian LEO's Taurus 24/7's, .40, fire by shaking!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwK_Hd-XcZY
The above video link 3 minutes, 14 seconds long. The Brazilian LEO's are not happy with
the dangerous performance of their Taurus 24/7 semi-automatic pistols, chambered in .40.
The man in the video displays how the gun will fire by simply holding it by the grip (no finger
near the trigger) and shaking it.
It will fire with the manual safety in the "fire" position.
It will fire with the manual safety in the "safe" position.
At least one policeman was wounded when his holstered Taurus 24/7 shot him in the foot.
By the way, I re-added this thread today, since it's one of the threads that went into the
bit bucket the other day (data that can't be found goes into the "bit bucket").

First thing I thought of was those old cowboy pictures where they used to "sling" their bullets as they fired their revolvers.
Second thing I thought is, well, that was just the movies, this is for real and pretty dangerous, too.

Holy canolli!!!
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

Bet a little bubba gunsmithing, south american style, was part of that picture. Hard to believe that gun was unaltered from the factory.

IIRC there were about 100K produced for the police in Brazil and Taurus took them all back. These were Gen 1's and I have not heard of similar problem with US-sold pistols. I have seen lots of complaints from Brazilians that Taurus sends the good guns to the US and sells the so-so stuff at home.
One problem with Taurus pistols imported from Brazil is the amount of grease inside the slide and firing pin channel. I own a couple (PT111s/PT638) and found that I had to clean all the components inside the slide thoroughly. The one I didn't clean thoroughly had numerous FTF/FTE problems and the safety nearly impossible to engage. The one I did a quick clean had intermittent problems until I cleaned it again. The two I cleaned carefully never had problems.

Friend of mine had a ghost trigger installed on a Glock by a Glock armorer. The trigger was defective. Every time the slide cycled the gun fired. This was detected by the armorer before he picked up the gun and was replaced prior to it leaving the shop but he wanted was to see what surprise would have been in store for the operator with the defective trigger in place.mlawler wrote:Regarding the video.....filing to much off the sear will make a 1911 do that!!
