My friend bought two Judges when they came out. One each for he and his Son as rattle snake medicine on their ranch. They were not please with the results using .410 loads on snakes. They papered them and compared them to patters of a .45 ACP using CCI rat shot. They carry .45 ACPs now.

I roll my own, 38 special, #9 shot.

The Clinton Foundation probably owns a few.

I understand the anniversary edition of the judge will be coming out that chambers for .410, .45LC, .45ACP AND .454Casull!!!

I think that is already out. At least I recall seeing someone shooting one on one of the TV shows. Might have been a S&W, but I thought it was Taurus. It was a big honking revolver.

No. I'd rather have just a .45.

And that was my thought exactly. I understand that they are well-made guns, and will serve the purpose for some people in some situations, but they are not for me. If I needed a shot shell for snakes, they make snake loads for every caliber pistol I own. If it's a self-defense situation with a handgun against bipedal varmints, I'd rather have a rifled barrel, and the capacity of one of my 9mms or .45s. If it is absolutely something that calls for a shotshell and nothing else, then my Mossberg is most likely the better choice.

I have the Governor Revolver and the Taurus "Long Gun" Judge rifle/shotgun. The revolver is a large handgun and I would not carry it concealed though you could open carry it. The Governor Revolver is a high-quality handgun and I think the same of the Taurus rifle/shotgun.

I strap on the Governor when I am mowing the grass around the ranch house in the summer for a quick dispatch of rattlesnakes. I use no. 9 shot--highly effective against rattlers at close distances.

I carry the Taurus Long Gun Judge rifle/shotgun in my pickup when I am out and about--again for rattlers with the same no. 9 shot. Since the Judge rifle/shotgun has a longer barrel it has a more concentrated shot pattern than the Governor revolver if you are several feet from the target and distance is an issue.

Some think the Governor/Judge revolvers loaded with .410 buckshot or .45 long colt are good defensive guns against carjackers and that may be the case though I would use my every day conceal carry for that purpose.

I bought a Judge last year as we were having a serious copperhead outbreak at our place.

It is not painful for me to shoot with .410 and I haven't shot 45 long colt out of it. I use #4 or #2 shot for snakes and prefer it to my .45 or 9mm as most copperheads I've seen won't "pause" long enough for me to make a clean head shot.

The judge is easy to carry when I'm on the tractor or Mule. I use a Fobus paddle holster for it and don't have a retention holster.

I wouldn't try to carry it concealed, like others I prefer the capacity of my 9mm when carrying.

I like it for the purpose I bought it for.
