Two new toys!

#1

Post by 1911 10MM »

Just received two new toys from Ruger. The Tatical Mini 14 SS in 5.56 and the SR1911 .45 Talo Night Watchman Commander Size. Sorry about the quality of pictures but that is what you get with cell phones. Today was an awesome Friday!

I thought the pictures looked good. And you can't go wrong with a Ruger. Their customer service is excellent! :thumbs2:

I've been thinking about adding another Mini-14 to my collection. I've had my series 81 since the late 80's.

Nice guns! Is it just me, or does it appear Ruger has made the Mini-14 barrel heavier ? Looking at the 2 pictures, series 81 verses the new one, they appear different thicknesses. I used to have a one in the early 90's, never could get it to shoot decent, reliable as all get out though. I'd love to buy one if Ruger has improved the accuracy issues.

Apparently, the barrel has been improved for accuracy. You may buy a barrel strut for earlier models which is said to stiffen the barrel and improve accuracy.

You are correct- earlier series barrels tended to shoot badly after a few shots heated the barrel. For some reason this one hasn't exhibited that as bad, perhaps because I've never shot it a lot rapid fire.

Mine is a 99 model and shoots acceptably for the purpose I bought it for. It always go bang, clean or dirty. I have bolt guns if I want clover leaf accuracy.
