I don't know why people are surprised at the pricing for the 1911s. I expected them to be north of 2K. $1050 is a deal. I've seen pristine ones at auction for 5K.
If all you want is a cheap 1911, get one of those made in the third world. While some of these might be unissued, they MIGHT have been carried at Normandy, Market Garden, the Ardenne Forest, Anzio, or Iwo Jima.
It's about holding history in your hands. If it also works, that's a bonus. I would not want one that was unissued; not enough history in it.
