The rifle pictured is a Winchester M70 in .308 Winchester. Now don’t be alarmed if you have this rifle.
Most likely this rifle has seen somewhere in between of 50 000 and 80 000 bangs without any serious issues like this, and anything has its limits of wear and tear.

That is why you design the BCG/Bolt and Extraction box to be 1.5x or greater in strength integrity than the barrel. If things are going to go boom, its better to go boom forward than backwards. We do the same thing in metal building design (IE all critical connections are at least 1.5 times stronger than the column / girt / purlin they are supporting). Then you just design the member for the load applied and you know connection won't fail first.
That is probably a pretty useful report (and barrel) for metallurgists to inspect.
