Savage probably isn’t the first name to come to people’s mind when talking about.22 semi-auto rifles, based upon the market domination of the Ruger 10/22. Interesting gun and maybe worth adding to the safe if the price is right.

This little rifle competes more with the Marlin Papoose and Henry AR-7 rather than a Ruger 10/22 takedown in my opinion. More of a bug out or survival gun. The fact that it comes in R or LH is a winning attribute fro the lefties. D&T for scope base/s rather than a grooved receiver is a plus as well making a red dot easier to mount. The 64F Takedown MSRP of $229 is inline with the Henry AR-7, but quite a bit less than Marlin's Papoose at about $286, but the Marlin only comes in Stainless Steel nowadays. The Ruger 10/22 generally sells for around $300 bucks! Bud's has the lowest price I've found at $201 for the 64F Takedown. Savage has always produced solid firearms; I'd like to get my hands on one to see overall fit and quality.

That’s a dead ringer for a Papoose, including the bag.
They should throw in a Piccatinny rail to fit those tapped holes.
