I pulled a picture from my phone showing the fail to feed.

Could be a few causes- what little I could see appeared the rim of the case was still below the extractor, which could suggest either the round inertial fed out of the mag and hung on the extractor or the extractor is stuck/sticky and not allowing the round to feed up under the hook. Could be a feed lip or spring issue... or out of spec ammo.

separate comment- the .357 sig is a potent round but the bottleneck design is often finicky in a handgun. Even factory ammo has the occasional variance, which is usually exaggerated by the stepped shape. A larger gun with a longer slide stroke will naturally feed this round better.

If you have that much ammo, keep the nightstand gun, assuming it runs the ammo in question (which would further validate you issue is in the edc gun)... but if I were in your shoes, i' might consider a change in EDC.

Good luck!

The Sig diagnostic for this is Ammo > Magazine. If different ammo does not correct this, then use a different magazine. The magazine may simply need a rebuild; follower, spring, baseplate, but a new magazine may be easier/cheaper.

FWIW, the suggested maintenance cycle on the recoil spring is 5 yrs or 3k rounds.

Man that stinks. There is nothing like the let down feeling of an old trusted carry piece laying down on you. I have a p239 and love it. I also have a p938 which I love as well. The p365 is a great little piece, I carry mine quite frequently. I will say that nothing will make you feel a sense of confidence like a revolver will. I probably carry my airlite 357 more than any other gun now.

Thanks for the comments. I took apart the magazine and it was clean and looked okay but obviously I don't know about the spring tension. Thanks for the recoil spring mention - that would be something really easy to try before sending the gun back to Sig. In fact I need a new spring for my wife's P238.

On the feed failure. Is this just on the first round as you're loading, or is throughout the firing cycle as you shoot?

The P239 is DA/SA, with a round in battery it will fire and then fails to load another. It just dawned on me when I was looking for more 357 Sig magazines that I have a .40 caliber barrel and magazines for it so tomorrow I'll switch it over to 40 cal and see what happens.

Just returned from a gun show with a brand new Sig P365 XL and holster :thumbs2: . Ran two 12 round mags through it and it's a really nice shooter, I'll run about 200 more rounds of FMJ and hollow points and see how she does. I loved the H&K VP9 - it was made for my hand but it's just too large and heavy for me to carry now. It nearly came home with me though.

Nice! I saw the 365 XL only online and would like to handle one. Seems to be a great combination of grip and slide size for EDCC, especially for those of us who must be discreet.

Do you mind me asking what you paid for it?

It was $600 cash at the gun show, I wasn't interested in price shopping so I realize it's a bit more than I could have paid by shopping around. I wanted a new carry gun asap so there you go. Main point- I'm a happy camper :cheers2: .

Maybe I also need that H&K :nono:

Never had any FTF or other issues with my Sig P239 40 S&W. I just found it too big and heavy for a EDC gun.

I would keep working on the 239. They make a great carry gun, and I have one on me quite often. Yes, I know, too heavy and too large for 8 rounds. Don't care.

Good luck with your new Sig pistol!

Is this an issue with both .40 and 357 Sig or just 357 Sig? Also, would you be interested in 3 357 magazines? Two are used, and I can't vouch for them, but I bought them without realizing that the pressed in rib makes them useless for .40. Free to a good home.

I love 357, but don't want to shoot it from such a short barrel (especially not when I probably would not have ears on).

I'm going to shoot some 40 caliber in it today and see how it does, thanks for the offer of the 357 mags, that's very kind. I'll PM you my address, glad to pay shipping.

The P239 is a really good gun and I like the 357 Sig round but I'm now in my 70s and it's just a bit heavy for me. Its weight is really appropriate for the round. I'm going to run a bunch of rounds through the P365XL today and then park it on my hip.

Try a drop of oil on the extractor pivot point, and work it back and forth a few times. Looks like the case rim isn't going in behind the extractor. If you haven't shot it in a year, there may be lint or something impeding it's natural movement.
