Run on Ammo

Post by flowrie »

Noticed ammo prices have increased and supply decreased.
SG Ammo not even accepting orders at this time.
The only thing cheap and in supply is gasoline.
Anyone else seen the same?

Oh yea.... I use www.ammoseek.com and right now Wolf steel ammo that used to be .13 per round is now .15 per round IF you can find it.... I've been seeing an average jump of .3 to .5 cents per round.. Many brick an mortar are limiting to 2 boxes... I'm getting concerned because I'm down to 3972 rounds of 9mm right now... May have to do more .22 shooting for a while....

Shoot... Your right... I forgot to add what's in my magazines.... Better add 17+17+14....

I only know because I had to rearrange my ammo shelf this morning... I make stacks of 10 boxes for easy counting... I am however NOT counting my .22 as they are loose in 2 ammo cans...... :fire

Noticed this starting last week. On Saturday it looked like Black Friday at the gun counter at the local Academy and folks were grabbing all the ammo they could. Just got back from a short trip out and happened to stop by Academy again just to take a look.....ALL .22 except shorts and some sub-sonic is GONE; all .223/5.56 GONE; virtually ALL handgun ammo GONE; all AR style rifles GONE. Plenty of shotguns still on the shelves, but even in the shotgun shell category, slugs and 00 Buck gone. :confused5

Now I'm REALLY glad I picked up ammo just before all this started. Got a Ruger 10/22 and a Sig P320 (.45) just 3 weeks ago, and picked up a few extra boxes of ammo for both while I was there. Quite the fortunate coincidence.

I just ordered 2,000 rds of 124Gr JHP 9mm from Precision Delta for the same price they have been for quite a while. https://www.precisiondelta.com/

I've noticed it myself too. I was at the local Academy yesterday, and most of the range ammo shelves were barren. Self defense ammo was about 50% stocked. Prices for ammo have also increased there a bit since the last time I checked.

It's entertaining to watch the masses go crazy and start hoarding stuff for purely emotional reasons. It's a tad aggravating because it makes my usual shopping a little bit harder, but I'm glad I have enough safety stock that I can skip a shopping run or more without running into any problems.

Starting to go as well... had emails from a 1/2 dozen suppliers today quoting up to 2 weeks to ship, lots of out of stock and backorders already.

And this on RMR's site:
Okay, apparently people are buying to prepare for the end of the world. We now have more orders than we can fill right away. So, if you need your order to ship right away please send an email to shipping@rmrbullets.com and we will rush it out if we can. Obviously, backorders won't be able to go out until we have the products in stock. I've put all of the in-house bullets on backorder because we are waiting for a shipment of copper strip and I want everyone to know to expect some shipping delays. And no, we don't have any toilet paper in stock. Sorry!

Apparently I'm pretty good at this ammo thing... I stocked up on several thousand rounds of .22LR 2 weeks before Sandy Hook, stocked up on ammo necessities in December, then ordered a case of defensive ammo just a few days ago before the panic started "rlol"

If only my stock market investing was as smart as my ammo investing :totap: :grumble
