A 5/4 or 6/3 Supreme Court.

Chas.
:iagree: But it makes me feel better when somebody as astute as Mr. Cotten reassures me of it. :patriot: :txflag:
I could not agree more. Let us all just hope and pray the Republicans get it done. I just don't have much faith in Roberts.
I believe that would be the reason Charles called it 5/4 or 6/3. He was counting on Barrett being confirmed.

I do not care for Trump very much (his personal behavior is distasteful to me - a reason I generally don't care for New Yorkers), but his nomination just now, and his pushing to get it through, was enough to redeem him when i voted this morning. This SCOTUS nomination is the most critical thing for our country and our way of life that I have seen in many years.

I tend to generally agree that Trump is not what I’d consider to be my all around ideal candidate for anything, but, decision to appoint such a decent judge to a Supreme Court is a redeeming point no doubt about it.

Can y’all imagine what you’d get with that hologram candidate and Harris? Jay Z or Snoop Dog probably.

What about 5/8 OR 6/7 Supreme Court? Could happen by April 2021 if Biden wins and Dems take the Senate. :???:
4/13/1996 Completed CHL Class, 4/16/1996 Fingerprints, Affidavits, and Application Mailed, 10/4/1996 Received CHL, renewed 1998, 2002, 2006, 2011, 2016...). "ATF... Uhhh...heh...heh....Alcohol, tobacco, and GUNS!! Cool!!!!"

And a asteroid could strike the earth and kill us all. I'm talking about realistic possibilities. The Democrats would not pack the Court. They learned from the Harry Reid Rule.

I hope you're right. But it has been done in the past, and they're mumbling a lot about it now.
I think it's way past time to have that number set in stone with an amendment. That should be a pretty easy one to get ratified.

FDR tried to pack the court, but Congress refused to pass his legislation. At the time, Democrats controlled the House and Senate. Here's an article that is essentially accurate. https://www.washingtonpost.com/history/ ... rbg-trump/

Great article. I understand it's politically risky for them. So was their impeachment debacle. But that didn't stop them from pushing forward with it.
You're probably right that it won't happen. I wouldn't bet against you when it comes to your opinion on most things. I enjoy reading your input here in the forums.

What scares me most, is that norms that have been followed for decades, are being thrown out. If congress were the Stock market, insecurity on what is going to happen would force it to lose almost all of it's value. It's very difficult to gauge the depth of the desperation they're at in their scheming. 20 years ago I never would have dreamed that a candidate would survive stating they're socialist. Now an entire party is openly socialist. I still have hope the system is strong enough to survive. But when so many of the general public have no idea how it works, which isn't accidental. Then they will support removing the safeguards, such as the Electoral Collage. They support one branch attempting to function within another branches realm. And they can be persuaded to see SSI as a welfare.

I voted last election on one issue, court appointments. As far as I was concerned he could spend his time at Mar A Lago playing golf the entire time until a vacancy came up. I haven't been disappointed so far (other than I wish that Gorsuch and Kavanaugh had been a little more on the constitutionalist side). I hope he gets the chance to appoint two more justices.

That was the primary issue for me this year. But the Justice I am most disappointed in is Roberts, and I certainly cannot blame the current administration for him.

I am not so sure. Democrats are openly discussing it and neither Biden nor Schumer have ruled it out. Biden says he won't answer about it, or suggests vaguely, "he's not a fan". In Democrat speak, that means yes I will do it if I can get away with it.
