Texas Law causes new RDS to fail

#1

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

I have a brand new Holosun 507K RDS on my CZ Compact. I carried it for about four hours when I realized that the control buttons were not working. I could not 1) turn the RDS off; 2) change the intensity of the dot; or 3) change the reticle (it has three). I removed the battery (easily done with side tray), reinserted it and everything works fine now. It has not failed since.

As all Texas men know, Texas law prohibits us from reading product instructions, directions, manuals, maps or road signs, or asking for directions when were are lost. Had it not been for that absurd law, I would have read the user manual and learned that you put the 507K in lockdown mode by pressing and holding the + button for 3 seconds. You take it out of lockdown mode the same way. (No battery tray manipulation or calls to Holosun tech support are required.)

I need to draft a bill for 2021 repealing that cumbersome law.

Noooo... Don't repeal that law! I'd never be able to get in the habit of actually reading instruction manuals. I'm okay on road signs, though. But would I have to obey the talking GPS? I hate those...

That's funny right there! But, I will say that I've never been "lost." I've lost my sense of direction a time or two, but lost is an awfully strong word. :biggrinjester:

In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.

Whoa! Hold on there a minute. Let's not do anything crazy, here.
If we're 'allowed' to read the directions, pretty soon certain folks (my wife) will begin to 'expect' it.
