"Arriving officers shot and killed Scott when he refused to comply with the officers’ orders to surrender."

I could feel the spin here in TX.

Sounds like they just gave up.
:iagree: It probably got too expensive and they thought it was unlikely that they would prevail.

"Despite multiple witnesses confirming Erik was complying with Officer Mosher's commands, recent Ninth Circuit Court opinions finding "qualified immunity" for police officers, even after agreeing excessive force had been used, makes it difficult to proceed with this lawsuit."

Got to be tough for the family to do this considering all that went on, especially after the shooting.

The qualified immunty reference peeked my interest. Apparently the same protection government and government official have legislated for themselves extends to police officers. Quote from SCOTUS ruling in Wilson VS. Layne. "law-enforcement officers are protected from "bad guesses in gray areas". There are other ruling's on the issue as well. I couldn't find a recent 9th District Ct ruling. Texan's lost the right for remedy from government under Gov Clemen's I believe, though I may be wrong.
Insert Hi-jack here:  Government is free to damage and/or destroy the property of private citizens with impunity unless it's with a vehicle at fault or due to negligence or faulty equipment as I recall from a friend's lawsuit against GBRA.

The video is with the missing 18 1/2 minutes of the Nixon tapes, and the true explanation of the Kennedy Assination -- Jimmy Hoffa has them... :biggrinjester:

There is no video. According to police sources, the camera recorder malfunctioned.

This unfortunately happens a good bit...I'm sure the spin will come for a cover up...but I regularly have a messed up video system.

I recall reading they seized the Costco security cameras to make sure that happened.

And the video is thoroughly examined by the same company that has the police contract in Las Vegas.

Better that you should ignore the troll comments completely, not even respond to them, and continue to provide insight where you can from your prospective. :cheers2:

Tough break for Eriks family..... likely the better choice as even the good fight, to find the truth was not going to win in the system in place at that location.

Depending on the quality of the system and the software, there is a real good possibility that there is no video. I have video security system at work and at home. it is not uncommon for a system to look like it is functioning when it really isn't recording, or one channel on the multiplexer is hosed up.

Does it look like a possible cover-up? Yeah, but we probably will never know. They could telling the truth on the video. However, the slogan 'What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas' is really seems to fit this one. :totap:
