I am about to finally begin working up 225 gain loads for my .300 WSM model 70 (many thanks to those whose advice helped in getting it back). The nearest data that i can find is 220 grain round nose loads from Hodgdon. When I called them to ask, they thought that using their 220 grain data as a starting point seemed reasonable. I also intend to seat these long and may gain some powder capacity that way. Barrel is a 28" 1-10" Bartlein. I plan to try 4831 and H1000,both Hodgdon Extreme series powders. Bullet,as per title,is the Hornady .308 225 grain ELD Match.
If I am the guinea pig then so be it. However, if anyone else has been there first, I'd love to share their experience.

Re: .300 WSM 225 grain ELD-Match
I load 208 gr A-max and ELD for my Steyr SSG 300WM. Since the Barrel Length is long, I recommend RL23 start at 60gr and work it up.

I almost never load rifle but Hornady 9th edition does list 225 gr BTHP Match. Would not that load data work? They do use H4831SC as one option.MaduroBU wrote:I am about to finally begin working up 225 gain loads for my .300 WSM model 70 (many thanks to those whose advice helped in getting it back). COAL is the big limitation, and the plastic tip changes my SD. Sounds like the best starting point.
