That bill is DOA and any GOP member that supports it has guaranteed somebody else will take their seat next election.

Writing my reps; feel free to modify and reuse
Dear Representative/Senator XXXXX,
I am writing you today in regards to H.R.3999, the bill recently introduced to ban bump stocks for semiautomatic rifles. As your constituent, I would like to voice my strong opposition to this bill. It is a poorly worded, vague and ambiguous bill which will no doubt be abused by future administrations and bureaucrats, and should not be passed. This bill is neither common sense nor a compromise, is the very definition of a slippery slope, and will set an alarming precedent for retroactive criminalization of law abiding citizens.
Please take my comments into consideration, and if this bill is put forth for your consideration vote against it.

NRA is against this ban, wants ATF to relook at it. This bill will never pass.

The bill could be construed to ban the strikers on a Browning Cynergy versus the slower inertial hammers on a Citori. Over/under shotguns are semiautomatic weapons.
What an awful piece of legislation.

Re: HR3999 bumpstock legislation slippery slope
As written, this bill would criminalize the possession of any semi-auto firearm that has had any work done to the trigger, along with a multitude of other potential modifications. This is not just about bump stocks, and it's not just about AR's.MaduroBU wrote:The bill could be construed to ban the strikers on a Browning Cynergy versus the slower inertial hammers on a Citori. Barack Obama never was bold enough to actually try to take our guns. This bill takes our guns. It doesn't just ban future manufacture and sale of affected semi-auto firearms. This is nothing less than the complete confiscation of a huge percentage of the weapons that are owned by our citizenry. And it is supported by a number of republicans in congress.

They will keep trying to infringe the right of the people to keep and bear arms as long as there are no consequences for it.
