Email confirmation of paperwork receipt?

#1

Post by ahtoxa »

Hey folks,

I submitted all my paperwork online on Nov. 11th.

I've read here that folks have gotten an email confirmation of electronic paperwork receipt. I never got it, the only email I got was the checklist after original filing. I'm freaking out that I may not have submitted properly and have been waiting 60 days for nothing, based on a post of this happening to another member, where they didn't hit "upload" and just hit "submit".

I called DPS and they COULD NOT confirm they had my paperwork, but told me to just sit tight, even thought the agent mentioned that normally they should be seeing it by now.

Question: does EVERYONE get an email in return, confirming that paperwork was received?

Help. :???:

I don't think a lot of people are getting email confirmation. I wouldn't worry to much.

IF the paperwork is missing, I'd think that once they get to processing the application, there should be a status change of incomplete paperwork or something, right?

I got the email but it said if they need any further info they would contact you by mail...So if its incomplete they would probably send you a letter stating what they need if anything

Based on what you have written, It could not hurt to resubmit online. Be sure to hit "upload"

How do I resubmit online? If I log in, there's no option to do so. If I try to start a new application, it logs me in once I enter all of the data.

In the dropdown box select Concealed Handgun, then fill out the form and at the bottom attach your scanned in forms and upload, then submit. http://www.dps.texas.gov/rsd/contact/default.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And I might have misunderstood; you wrote that you submitted all of your paperwork online. This was for an initial license? How, exactly, did you submit your CHL 100 and checklist?

I submitted all the forms from the checklist online.

What I'm not sure about, is whether or not I clicked "upload" before I hit submit. I read on here earlier today that someone didn't do that and thus didn't get the confirmation email I was asking about in the original post. Now, in hind sight I believe I did everything right, but I started to worry because on the phone, DPS wasn't able to confirm whether or not I've submitted any paperwork.

I would HATE to have waited 60 days only to realize I've made a mistake submitting. Is it even possible to click "submit" on the form before uploading? Not sure.

I submitted online, which resulted in the "Concealed Handgun Licensing Online Application Checklist" being created as well as a "Concealed Handgun Licensing Online Application Receipt" showing among other things the $72 charge to my credit card. I did subsequently fill-out the "Contact us by e-mail" form on the website along with (I thought) the Checklist just made (with barcode) and a scanned-to-PDF copy of our CHL-100 signed by our instructor at class. Like others, although I had Browse...ed for these two documents, I made the mistake of not clicking Upload. So I got a "Thank you!" at this webpage.

I did get an immediate "Thank you for contacting the Texas Department of Public Safety" email from Dannette/Manager Customer Support Operations which was obviously an automatic bounce-back email to ANYONE using that web page to submit an email FOR ANY REASON i.e. it appears pretty much worthless.

Fully two days later I received a "RE: CHL - New Application" from a DPS CS rep saying "There were no attachments to your email. You may want to resend..." pointing-out to me that to "Make sure...you click on the Upload box" which indeed was the mistake I'd made the first time.

So I went back to that webpage and filled-out the form a 2nd time, this time properly attaching the Checklist-with-barcode and my CHL-100. Once again I got Dannette the Automaton replying instantly to my email to them.

ahtoxa at least my experience (I'm not approved yet) suggests there is NOT an email sent-out that confirms receipt of your documentation, only the automated bounce-back and a "personal" email if you screw-up and forget to Upload your docs.

FWIW about two weeks later I finally got fingerprinted, which I was led to believe by FAST would be submitted directly to DPS, and have never gotten anything from DPS indicating they have my FAST. In mid-November I submitted another online "Contact us" inquiry, attaching my Checklist again and also my FAST receipt, asking them if they have everything they need from me, and got a reply a couple weeks after THAT stating "Thank you for your inquiry it's been referred to a specialist" or some such and now two months later there's still no update in my record...

Thanks for the good info!

The clerk at the office told me that I can fax my information as well, which I'll do tomorrow, just be cause I can. Then I'll stop worrying about it and just wait some more. Based on the posts in other threads from other users, who submitted same time I have, I should have an update on the status by end of next week or so.

Thanks all!

I never got a confirmation email and it took 63 days to update that they received my application
that was after three emails (which I received only one replay and it was a canned response) and a phone call where they basically said keep waiting
I finally received it 89 days later and there was NO problems with my fingerprints, paperwork or background check
