I'm brand new to CHL (just waiting on my card that was mailed Friday 6-20-14) and I would like to see the photos that the OP posted that are now dead links (404 file not found). Are there newer photos of signs that can be posted so we can have a visual of whats currently compliant with the law versus outdated signs that aren't?
The 51% sign shows up for me. So does the old 30.06 sign. The new 30.06 sign is basically the same size but reference "Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code" instead of "4413 (29ee) Revised Statutes" (or V.C.S.) as the concealed handgun law.
Thank you Fuchs, I'll be sure to watch for the reference for chapter 411. I can see a couple of the pics too, but was hoping to see the first three that were originally posted. I certainly don't want to make any mistakes where I carry, so I guess if in doubt, I'll stay out (until I can clarify). ;-)

hahaha, Fuchs, I think we both posted at the same time .....thanks for your earlier reply and thank you too, for posting the photos!!

I can't either, that's why I asked for the thread to be updated/revived.....I wanted to see those images. I just want to be sure I stay on the right side of the law while carrying, but at the same time, I don't want to stay out of a place if their signage is not legal. I guess, until I can recognize all the correct signage, my motto will be 'If in doubt, stay out'.

After four years, I'm more surprised at the links that still work than the ones that don't.

Is it mandatory that a store or franchise post signage if they do not want CHLer's in the store? :???:

Not sure what you mean. If they want to prohibit a CHL from carrying, then they must post a 30.06 sign. The sign is not mandatory, but is required if they want to use a sign to notify you. They can also verbally give you notification or hand you a card with the 30.06 language on it and you must leave.

If they sell alcohol then they MUST post one of two signs per TABC laws. If they make less than 51% of their income from alcohol sales for on premise consumption they have to post the blue 'Unlicnsed possesion' sign. You can carry past that. If they make more than 51% income from on-premise consumption sales, then they have to post a 51% sign and you cannot carry past that.

Then they follow the rule I mentioned about 30.06 sign or verbal notification. If you have a CHL, then you should have been taught that in class.

Keith (and others), what say you about these (2) signs. The second one, I have never seen anywhere. Can one can still carry concealed at both places? Thanks in advance.

Neither is 30.06 notice. The first one may be effective notice to prohibit rifles but not sure the second one even accomplishes that.

Neither of the signs above are legal notice in Texas. Period.

To be honest, I figured as such, and went about my business. I also figured that this thread was a good place to post these in the hopes that it's helps to inform others.

Appreciate the replies.

AFCU would go on my personal prohibited list as in prohibited from ever getting any of my business and as many others as I could convince to boycott them. There are too many choices of CU to patronize anyone that is anti-gun.

I can't see the images others have mentioned either. Hopefully they'll be restorable.

I don't understand how, especially with a "bank" which in theory anyway operates under so many rules it ain't funny, they can commission/purchase/install signage that doesn't mean anything legally. Not to mention of course that such a sign now becomes a "come on in BGs you only need worry about the security guard"-type invite.

What the heck are they thinking? :banghead:

Not that I'm complaining mind you. We need stupid people in this world. ;-)
