If you are an NRA member - or know one - get one of those NRA stickers for your wife's rear window.

I've notice that my car hasn't been subject to tailgating since placing the NRA decal over my 3rd brake light in rear window.

It might just help deter such behavior.

Or give vandals a target to vent against.... Or give would-be thieves a good idea of what vehicle(s) may be likely to have a firearm in it.

As others have said, good job by the spouse.

:thumbs2:
She did all she could given her circumstances. If she hadn't been there, it likely would have been the person in front of her dealing with him. Wrong place, wrong time.

Sounds like she did well.

One thing brought up here that is often brought up and not well thought out. If you are sitting in your vehicle with a gun and the other person is standing outside your vehicle with a gun. You are going to be at a huge disadvantage. If there is no getting away in the vehicle, maybe getting out of the vehicle and putting it between yourself and your potential attacker. At least you won't be caught sitting and trapped. Movement is key to surviving being shot at.

My thoughts exactly. Irrational and enraged, unquenchable thirst, blown pupils - all consistent with PCP intox.

Bravo to your wife! She was very brave and quick thinking. I would have been scared also being pinned in like that.

May I suggest a taser or mace at the very least? It might give her some peace of mind.

How long did she have to wait for the police to show?

If it happened to a CHL'er would anyone mention to the dispatcher that you have your CHL and weapon with you as a precaution?

I agree with RottenApple --- If they see the NRA sticker they assume this guy must be carrying a gun in the car & later try to steal it.
I have read other stories on think going bad because of NRA or any gun related sticker. :iagree: :nono:

Kudos to the OP's wife for extraordinarily good thinking and action in a bizarre and very dangerous circumstance.

There is one other option that has not yet been mentioned for a circumstance like this one - getting out of the car and running into the restaurant. That could prevent the whiplash type injury that can result from being repeatedly rammed even at low speed, provide an opportunity to get help from others if the BG enters after her, and give the target more movement and escape options than remaining in the vehicle.

If executed quickly, this would likely catch the BG off guard for the few seconds needed to get inside faster than he can process what's happening and react.

I'm not suggesting this was better than the action taken in the actual circumstance because I wasn't there and the action taken managed the situation very well, but it's good to use these situations to identify additional options that may be a good fit in a similar but not exactly the same incident.

Doing the unexpected is often successful because it slows down the BG's OODA loop just long enough to create a window of opportunity for the GG to take successful action. A good example of this type of thinking and results from the animal world can be found here.

If she does not want to carry a gun consider a Taser or other less than lethal options. I thought of getting orut of the car and going in the restaurant as a good option too.

She has had in the past, and now has again (thanks to her hubby), defensive spray.

CHLLady, she said it took about 4 minutes for the police to arrive. I imagine that feels like a lifetime in that situation.

I understand about your wife's problems with firearms. Mine is the same way however over the years and a lot of patience she is slowly coming around.
It's all in patience and slowly educating her.
