Armed Protestors in Portland

I feel the most important lesson here is to learn how the armed protestors operate so as to be able to formulate an effective set of pre-made decisions.

:iagree:

One of my pre-made decisions when facing armed criminals is to not get boxed in and to never leave my vehicle unless it is physically unable to move. If forced to exit, I'll have as much firepower as I can reach.

The military taught me to fight through an ambush and to never ever stop in the field of fire.

Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, 1973. Drive through an unblocked ambush. Blocked ambush, dismount and assault. Obviously, a military response is not always appropriate in a civilian setting, but the mindset is similar. Have a plan that fits the rules of engagement, practice the plan, work the plan.

Agreed 100%. A military response is not always appropriate, but the mindset is usually a good thing.

I'd also add that against a group of criminals armed with MSR's, a military response is more likely to be appropriate. In this specific case, it was an unblocked ambush, so one probably would not have needed to dismount.

Car is a weapon. Guy in Israel was being pelted with rocks in his car. Took action. Caution video hard to watch.

Exactly. Your vehicle is your best defensive weapon in that scenario.

It is important to consider your options. At one point that driver of the red truck looked clear, and then he stopped and got out and it didn't go well for him.

Can you avoid by turning off or going in reverse? Can you set your ego aside and talk through the situation? If none of those things work, are you prepared to fight an armed and armored mob? Do you have the will and the skill? What standards have you trained to? Because the average security officer or cop doesn't train to win those kinds of fights.
