Was it specificly for CHL holders, or was it one of those pre-paid legal things and he was selling folks on the CHL protection?

There's a whole thread here:

http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_F ... =insurance

Concensus is against it. But read the thread, do the research, and draw your own conclusion.

There are several programs. I am aware of two right now that cover all legal fees up to and including trial. One is a law firm and they use mostly in house lawyers in Texas and contract attorneys out of state. Covers civil and criminal and all attorneys fees. The other pays fees for you and you choose your attorney.

Without knowing more about the program you saw it is impossible to really know.

I too remain interested in such insurance.

Charles suggested the NRA is a source for such so there's another place to look. He also said to look into what's NOT covered with gun/legal insurance.

I know I haven't gotten around to it, but this thread reminds me to get started.

Those mocking this thread are probably like a friend of mine who insisted he didn't need insurance for his Greyhound Bus R.V. until one day, he had a flat and it cost him $500.00 to get it fixed. Surprise!!

He then bought insurance...

R.V. insurance is far less serious than what we're discussing.

I'm curious about that part. Insurance is full of exclusions. Let me know what you guys find.

This is NOT insurance.

I am suspicious of this type of sales/marketing strategy.

If I worked on commission and collected a fee for every person I signed up, or got a free contract for myself, I might have a different opinion. :tiphat:

I have a Liability Umbrella policy attached to my Home Owner's policy. You might want to ask your agent about one for you?

Does it cover attorney fees for criminal defense?

My State Farm agent tells me that if Zimmerman has a State Farm homeowners policy like mine, he is being covered up to $1,000,000 worth of legal fees. I paid maybe $20 per year extra premium to go from $500,000 to $1,000,000.
