At what age did you become a CHL holder ?

Post by Jesse1911 »

I'm 32 and currently waiting for first plastic ever :???: so...at what age did you first apply or received your CHL? I am currently active military so I was out of Texas for the last 10 years, that was the main reason I did not have one, I didn't even know it was legal to conceal-carry until about 2 years ago. So are most of you late teens early 20's?

Took my class when I turned 21 and came home from school for the summer. Had the card in hand in 30 days. Of course that was in a state where 60=60. :grumble

A few months after I turned 21. I took the class a few weeks before my 21st, then sent it off as soon as I could after I turned 21.

Took them 67 days to process it, which is not that bad considering current circumstances.

I had my NYS permit at 21. When I moved here, I applied almost immediately at age 30. It has been good times since! :txflag:

Got it as soon as I found out about it at 22. I'll be 23 come November. I think there are a lot of people out there who do not know that concealed carry permits even exist! Everyone I talk to usually responds with a "huh" and "what's that?" I just think it doesn't get advertised enough. A few cards on the gun counter at Academy doesn't cut it in my opinion.

Got mine at 49,I lived in a state Kansas that until 2007 didn't allow the carrying of concealed or open carry of firearms,in 2006 I moved to Texas and within a month had taken the course

All guns have at least two safeties. One's digital, one's cognitive. In other words - keep the digit off the trigger until ready to fire, and THINK. Some guns also have mechanical safeties on top of those. But if the first two don't work, the mechanical ones aren't guaranteed. - me

I got mine at 31, a few months after learning to shoot. I think I had been aware of CHL for a long time, but was indifferent to it.

After learning to shoot, I kind of came to the conclusion that it was irresponsible of me to not take advantage of CHL and be "ultimately prepared" for the sake of my own and my family's safety in as many places as possible.

How long has CHL been available in Texas??I forget. But I got mine within the first year. When they were staggering everyones expiration dates so they wouldn't all expire at the same time. I got my original license and have renewed it 3 times I believe.
