Another thing to remember, if you go the route of a FL or other out-of-state license, it will not exempt you from the Federal Gun Free School Zones. I know that's not a big concern for many of us, but I like to abide by all laws all the time, for some strange reason.
Personally I would exhaust all avenues towards a Texas CHL before going out of state. Get the documentation and see if that makes any difference. Hope it works out for you.
