Can you carry a firearm on a bus service?

#1

Post by AlaskanInTexas »

So I am taking a new fancy-pants bus service between Houston and Dallas soon for work. I am not aware of any reason why I couldn't carry on the bus. I suppose it could be posted, but I doubt that it is (and I'm not even sure you can post an automobile). I'm most concerned that there is some obscure federal law about taking a firearm on a common carrier.

Do I have your blessing?

DART allows it. Greyhound doesn't but from what I understand, its a corporate decision rather than a legal one.

Is it Megabus? However, not sure they fit your description of fancy-pants bus service.

From the Megabus website.
Bicycles are not permitted on megabus motorcoaches. Customers may not transport in their baggage or otherwise any items that are inherently dangerous, including any hazardous materials as that term is defined by the US Department of Transportation or weapons of any kind.

Not a 30.06 notice, so it seems that legally you could carry. I suppose one could post a bus...I think the concept is "trespass to chattel", but I'd like to see it on a bus  .

Probably, but why give them your money?
