HELP with on line renewal

#1

Post by RPBrown »

I did a search on this but found nothing.
First I went to the DPS website that redirected me to the site to either start a new application OR to log in to renew. I logged in to renew and it took me to the site to Chose Your Service. Well, renewal is not an option on that site. Do I need to start with a new application as a first time visitor? Or where do I go?

First go here:

https://txapps.texas.gov/txapp/txdps/ltc/

Down at the lower right hand side, click on log-in returning user:

You will enter your DL# and DOB
and then you should be able to access the form to do your renewal.
I just did mine, took less than 2 weeks to get mine back.

Hope this helps. :tiphat:

ETA: Didn't read all the way through. I think, it is like a new application, but, all I had to do was pay my fee, they had everything else. You will get a notice saying they will direct you on where to get fingerprints, but, that is only if there is a problem with your originals.

I also received my renewal letter. Went to the site, selected lower right button for returning and reviewed the options given on the next page.
There was no steps for the renewal, only option given in the lower left side was to apply to become a CHL Instructor.
I have sent an email to the TX DPS link on that page regarding questions.
I just did this yesterday so it may be a little while before I receive a response.

I wonder if it is a time related situation. Letter sent in Aug. Expiration is Feb.

Look at your expiration date and count back 180 days. That'll be the earliest date you can renew.

I contacted DPS yesterday afternoon about this. They told me they were having some issues and to either keep checking back or send it in via snail mail. They checked and I am well within my 180 days

Less than 180 days to expiration. Hope they get the glitch fixed soon. Snail mail might confuse things.

I guess I got lucky. I renewed, on the 6th, had my new plastic in hand on the 17th. I know they were having issues, when I tried to log on to check my status a couple of times. But they should have it fixed by now. I didn't renew as soon as I got my notice, I waited about a month. I wonder, if they haven't put you in the system yet as being eligible?

I did the online renewal 2 weeks ago tomorrow and it shows mailed today. (13 calendar days total to mailed) Better than I hoped for! :tiphat:

Glad it worked out for you. I renewed online earlier this year and it really surprised me how smooth the process was.

I received an reply today, to my email from earlier in the week to TXDPS-RDS about the option being missing. :tiphat:

I logged in and was able to complete the renewal application process. :hurry:

Good response time by the RDS section.

I also have plenty of time to receive the renewal before my current permit expires. :thewave

I have always mailed my renewal in I wanted to try the online renewal this time, I went online and found the place where you renew. I'm a dummy when it comes to computers when you fill out the form do you have to sign it if so how do you sign it.
