Navarro ISD considering Guardian Program

#1

Post by ELB »

Navarro ISD is close to Seguin, about 40 miles east of San Antonio on I-10. I could probably see the school campus from my work desk if not for the intervening buildings. As far as I know this would be the first school in Guadalupe County to go this route. It is a smaller district like many of the others that use the Guardian Program.

When I tried to pull up the article at Seguin Gazette's online site, it required a subscription to read, which we no longer have (although they keep delivering the paper copy anyway).

I added it to my post of other schools using the Guardian or Marshal programs that I have seen mentioned in news articles: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=66105&hilit=Hunt+ISD#p810414

Looking around the net for some updates, I find an article that notes in Feb 2018 there were 172 school districts that have implemented either a Guardian or Marshal Program (and of those, only one used the Marshal Program).

As of May 2018, that number has jumped to 217, or 21% of Texas school districts. That's very interesting.

Fairly decent article on this, which includes an interactive map showing which counties have armed staff: https://www.gosanangelo.com/story/news/ ... 670653002/
