Requirements for Running for Public Office

I was thinking about the anti-gun legislation that some our elected officials are planning to try to push through the legislature—both on a state level and at the federal level. It got me thinking—I wonder how many of these legislators could pass the background check and meet the requirements that all Texas LTC holders have to meet. Maybe this should be a requirement to run for public office.
