Re: Dove
Heck... those pics are good enough to be framed. I would hang those in my office at work. When I looked at them it made me think of all the moments I have had in the field with my dogs. Several years ago I had to give up working with bird dogs due to money, work, family and a lack of time. These pics make me long for those times.
Again....WOW!!!

Re: Dove
I have been thinking about dove hunting again, but these pictures ( really great camera work by the way ) really bring back memories and make me want to grab my O/U and my stool and take off for west Texas.

Re: Dove
The pictures themselves are nothing special other than paying attention to a moment and always having a camera at the ready. My current Dog, a Vizsla named Blaze is my lifetime dog, but I have had other hunting dogs. When I picked up Blaze as a puppy in Baton Rouge the owner of the Sire asked me to send her some pictures of my past dogs. When I got home I realized at least a couple of my hunting dogs that had spend their lifetime with me, I had not a single picture of. And then too I realized a hunting/fishing partner of mine who died of a heart attack at 48, I also had never taken a single picture during any of our hunts or days in his bass boat. 35mm Photography was a hobby of mine in my younger days, but somewhere along the way after going to hell and back I lost interest. Well, guess what. I now take pictures during every hunt I do. A camera is always in my pocket or around my neck. The two pictures I posted are nothing special camera wise. It is from an old 4 mg Kodak Easyshot that was bought used cheap on ebay. I don't own any expensive cameras. It is the story behind the pictures that make them special to me.

Nothing special? Come on, sir they are wonderful works, regardless of what camera it was on. Some of my best pictures were taken on 'cheap' cameras.JvT wrote:The pictures themselves are nothing special
I kept that last picture in the quote because I love it. It captures the scene perfectly. Good job.

Re: Dove
Some of my favorites
Blaze is about to turn 6, but this is her on her first Dove hunt at one year old.
Following a Quail hunt at Four Canyon Nature Conservatory Preserve in Oklahoma
One heck of a public waterfowl hunt in Western Oklahoma
Kansas Public Pheasant
The real Snipe Hunt (my favorite bird to hunt BTW)
Where I was at this time last September. Colorado BLM land Sage Grouse
This year I will head back to Kansas for a week of Pheasant hunting. I hope Oklahoma for a few days of Goose hunting, but my annual big two week road trip will be to bounce around the Texas Trans Pecos Big Bend covering all the big WMAs in January chasing mostly Blue Quail.

Re: Dove
I hope you don't mind, but I used this one as my new desk top. The colors of the sky behind the dog with the colors of the pheasant in his mouth are great. This pic represents one of the many things that hunting is all about. One can see it in the eyes, this dogs desire to please his master. He looks so darned proud of himself for bringing that bird...LOL. It makes me want to reach out and pet him.

Re: Dove
I use a simple Kodak DX6490. Some pictures I use a kodak wide angle lens, but most are just the camera in dummy mode.
