"The Reactive Gunfight"

#1

Post by Paladin »

After some twenty years teaching leading edge shooting techniques, Roger Phillips retired from teaching and is working to document his innovative thoughts on gunfighting in a new book: The Reactive Gunfight

The biggest one is to accept the fight may not at all be like what you want or trained for at Gunsite.

“The fight will be what the fight will be!”

You have to accept that and prepare accordingly.

That's a fairly short and very solid read. It looks like it's a 2003 book with some of the text revised and posted in January 2023.

My Google Fu is weak today because I can't find the actual book anywhere. I guess one tip is that authors named Roger Phillips, or Bob Smith, or John Doe should maybe think about including a middle name or using a nom de plume...'cause it don't make locating your books any easier if you have a common name. Seems the most prolific writer named Roger Phillips is a British botanist who writes about plants. I can find blog posts and some videos about Roger Phillips's courses, but can't find the book. Oh well, at least I can print to PDF the link you provided at Paragon Pride.

Most of his work is un-obtainum at this point: Point Shooting Progressions. He release a pair of DVDs.

Roger developed much of Suarez's CRG course material:
Close-Range Gunfighting

Thanks. Unobtainium. Got it. ;-)

I actually have that Suarez 2-DVD instructional, but it's packed away in a storage unit right now and I haven't looked at it in years. But based on your post, I did find Roger at LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/roger-phillips-33b70448/: Firearms Instructor, Suarez International, Jan 2006 - Nov 2013; Owner, Fight Focused Concepts, Sep 2009 - Present.
