Oppenheimer and the Beekeeper ( movies)

#1

Post by philip964 »

I really anticipated Oppenheimer. A subject I was interested in, then when the reviews came out that it will be the best movie of the decade and by the director of Dunkirk, I almost drove to San Antonio to see it in IMAX.

Glad I didn’t. All about persecution of communists after the war. Endless hearings and meetings accusing him of being a communist. Yeah the bomb part was good. I was really disappointed.

Yes I’m not a high brow movie fan.

The Beekeeper, if you like good action movies with fights shooting etc. this is your movie. Yes the FBI and the bad guys shoot like Starwars stormtroopers, and the good guy never misses.

Interesting plot motivation and surprise ending. Well put together. A beekeeper protects the hive.

I won’t reveal the awesome comparison to today, but it’s there.

Oppenheimer was a big disappointment. I always enjoy Jason Statham movies.

I watched the Beekeeper this weekend. I enjoyed it. But I've long been a Statham fan.

Watching Napoleon later this week. I've heard good things about it.

Napoleon was interesting especially his love making. The sets, scenery and costumes were awesome. Tactics of the big battles was the most interesting for me. The creation of the squares at Waterloo were shown.

Afterwards I read up on Josephine. She was that and even more.

I haven't seen the movie, but there was all the reason in the world to investigate Oppenheimer:
Former intelligence officers we interviewed in Moscow stressed that Oppenheimer's assistance was of great importance during the 1942-1944 period.
Oppenheimer is mentioned as an unlisted member of the American Communist Party in a Soviet intelligence document dated January 7, 1946.
The Oppenheimer files in Soviet Intelligence Archives and the Presidential Archives remain under seal. The critical 1944 and 1945 documents in the Soviet history of atomic energy have not been published although earlier and later materials have been released.

The fact that after all this time Oppenheimer's files are still under seal should pretty much confirm what we know... he spied for the Soviet Union.

Napoleon's letters to Josephine are a very interesting read too.
