I don't watch the news anymore because I hate every major news network so I've shifted to spending 30 minutes a day reading the news online instead (sometimes it can be just as poorly put together as the tv news).

Is it just a lack of TV coverage you're meaning by no one is paying attention? Really not trying to be sarcastic. I'm curious because I've seen dozens of articles about the president in Vietnam, lifting the weapons ban against them, etc.

For youngsters, that's Ho Chi Minh in the background. He killed a lot of good brave and fine Americans in the '60's and '70's to unite his country, so it could be the Capitalist Oligarchy it is today.

The Viet Nam war ended over 40 years ago. No different than the reconciliation with Germany and Japan after WWII, and we rebuilt those countries to boot.
