I guess I am the only one that saw this and said "hmmm, bacon prices are going down." The farmers outside California will not go to the expense to meet California's new requirements. If they can't sell it there, then there will be a surplus in the rest of the country. That means bacon and pork prices should drop here.

Alternative possibility:

I don't see all pig farmers adopting the burdensome and expensive changes for their entire herds.

I think the farmers who sell heavily to CA will create limited areas to raise compliant pigs and jack up the prices to their CA customers. The prices for the rest of the country will remain pretty much as they are.

Yours is a more likely solution, given that California supposedly consumes 42% of US pork products. No one can afford to right off that much market, especially if they can raise the prices and blame the new law. But I like my idea better and hope a few farmers are fed up with the California attitudes.

Police Officer shot and killed a bystander sitting in his car while attempting to arrest a man with a felony warrant who was on foot. Very confusing why officer fired his gun. We need more information.

In other news if your voting by mail to remove the Governor your vote is visible outside the envelope. If your vote is to keep him, your vote is secret. Move along nothing to see here.

Officer seriously wounds man beating him with vodka bottle that fractured his scull.

Grand jury indicts officer for deadly assault.

Man who was breaking into homes and police cars and beating the officer has not been charged.

The victim in this police assault was in a

“crisis state due to a pre-existing behavioral health condition"

Thus the situation was not handled correctly by summoning a mental crisis team.

The DA won the election by promising to do this sort of thing.

Good news victim had to have leg amputated, no doubt San Fransisco taxpayers will pay a hefty settlement to this amputee.
Of all the disturbing things coming out of Cali I decided to follow-up with this one. It seems as though they dismissed all charges against the attacker with the bottle due to lack of sufficient evidence he was the attacker.

Holy cats that's a bunch of stupidity.

14 Smash and grab LA robbers caught by police. Immediately released without bail.

That will teach them.

Which just shows that he did not pay any attention to the SCOTUS ruling this week. One of the reasons the abortion law was written that way was to stop lawsuits to declare it unconstitutional. SCOTUS said the lawsuits could go forward. They emphatically did not rule for or against the law itself, just that the state can still be sued to stop it. I expect those suits to go forward, while the answer to the case in Mississippi may change that.

Interestingly, they can uphold both the Mississippi law and Roe v. Wade. Just recognizing that medical advances lowered the age of viability. Then the Texas law would be the real challenge to Roe when it gets back up to the SCOTUS.

Patient in nursing home is in cardiac arrest. Nurses are performing chest compressions. They don’t have a defibrillator ( what $800 ). Paramedics with a defibrillator are at the entrance to the nursing home. But they won’t come in due to CA Covid regulations. Patient dies. A review of CA Covid regulations show they didn’t get the new memo.

Didn't I just hear about a similar thing happening somewhere just a week or so ago. They had the guy at emergency room and wouldn't treat him inside because he had not been vaxed. That guy died of heart failure as well.
