Does having a fire extinguisher make you a fireman?

Good samaritan pulls driver out of a rolled over mixer before the driver burnt to death.
“I saw that it was crashing so I grabbed a fire extinguisher and ran toward the truck,” Sirois said. “We have a lot of fire extinguishers.”
In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.

I love your thread title, and I’m going to steal it for other debates.

No more than having my LTC makes me a police officer. However, I am trained on and prificient with several tools which I can use effectively until the professionals arrive.

Laughable as it sounds, you are going to find some here think so as they'll often start grousing and moaning if you start hooting with laughter when they argue this point 'why, yes, an LTC does make a one jr. leo, because not so secretly their nutty enough to think so...

And wearing camouflage does not make you a soldier. SOME with LTC want to do more than the law allows, just as some who wear camo see themselves as militia. I saw a guy recently in boots, basketball shorts, camo shirt, bandolier with ammo loops full, and what looked like a 357 revolver in a leather western holster. Not sure that look is mainstream. All groups have extremists who get a lot of press, hopefully the good moderate level headed folks we never hear of make up the vast majority. If someone needs immediate help, first aid, Fire, personal safety, whatever, I have helped in the past and plan to help in the future. When the the threat is gone, or professionals arrive, my job is done. Does that make me a jr paramedic/Leo/fireman/food pantry/tow truck......?

No, does not make you a fireman, but I’ve always been told that it’s good to have an extinguisher handy and know how to use it.
Hmm, I just wonder what other tools might be handy or potentially living saving for a non-fireman or non-LEO or non-paramedic to have around the house, car, work, on your person, etc....

Thanks for posting the article!

Sirois went in, he says, for the “same reason anyone would. I would hope someone would do it for me.”

The truck driver should have cared enough about his own safety to invest in his own fire extinguisher. If he doesn't care enough about his own safety to keep one handy, why should I use mine for his benefit. My fire extinguisher is for me and mine only. Plus, I'm too old to help someone else. I am not a fireman and don't want anyone to think I think I am an implied fireman. By the way, who would take care of and provide for my family if I were to die trying to save someone from a burning vehicle.

Therefore, I'll just remain a safe distance away and be a good witness and expect everyone else to do the same in the event I find myself trapped in a burning vehicle. Good Samaritans are nothing but wannabes that should learn to mind their own business because they are not implied anything and there is no way for them to know the totality of the circumstance.

I will change my position when challenged to qualify "me and mine only" to it depends on the circumstances.
