There’s a new global ranking of gun deaths. Here’s where the U.S. stands - PBS NewsHour

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/health/the ... u-s-stands

Biased just from title.

Don’t we really just care about murders.

But if you just count murders, where a gun was used, that would take the US, almost to the bottom, of the list, and it then becomes much more difficult, to convince people, that we have a "gun" problem. Figures don't lie, but you can't stop liars from figuring. JMHO

We aren't exceptional in terms of suicide rate.

As soup of " suicide, accidental shootings, and homicide" are all mixed up just to make no sense when common sense is needed. Cars Kills more than all firearms in numbers and rate. Ban cars not guns.

Right on, Beiruty! The statistics are manipulated to make a political point. They state the average suicide rate by guns is 23-24%, but it's much, much higher in the US. Homicides by firearms world wide is a different picture, especially for homicides per 100,000.

:cup: :cup: We have a suicide problem and over-dose drug problem in US. Why no dems is acting with some common sense and demanding banning all drugs.

With 20 plus years as a Paramedic, the one thing I know is if somebody is going to off themselves nothing will stop them, if they are determined they will succeed and the means is irrelevant!
I fail to see why guns are included in these statistics without including all the other means also!

PBS = Progressive Broadcasting System.
The article’s source is listed as JAMA, the Jounal of the American Medical Association, an anti-gun group of doctors who would like you to believe they represent the great majority of physicians. They do not. Membership in the 1950’s was about 75% of doctors, today it is about 25%.
