Welcome to Austin. Mind the poop.

In another major move for the city’s progress on its homelessness issue this year, Austin City Council has loosened its laws around public camping, solicitation and sitting or lying down in some areas of the city, ordinances that critics say target Austin’s homeless population.

When asked about seeing what cities like Seattle experienced — so-called “tent cities” popping up — the mayor said, “I just don’t think we’re going to see that kind of thing happen over an eight-week period of time. If it does, there’s going to be a lot that we’re going to learn and apply, but I just don’t see that kind of thing happening.”

Representatives of the Austin chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America
Socialists never believe that other examples of their policies and agenda not working means there's won't work either.

Where did the eight week timeframe come from?

Will it happen in 8 weeks? Maybe not, but it will happen. I am glad that I moved out of Austin.

Why?
Does doing the same thing over and over the same way produce the same results? ... I'd think that must comes as a huge surprise to the Insane Except ... they never realize it do they?

As droves of Californians move to Texas for jobs, it appears they and their values are turning parts of Austin from merely “weird” to potentially dangerous mirror images of failed California cities.
In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.

Their game is to disavow responsibility of anything that they do or saw. A great example is the video tapes of the comments by Nadler and others during the Clinton impeachment. They believe that the American people are dumb enough to forget about them or to ignore them. Unfortunately, in many cases, they are correct.

MrsDocV and I were in Austin yesterday to visit a friend from overseas who described Austin downtown as "a bad San Francisco".

Speaking of which, the Democratic Socialists are just too right-wing for some in Austin:

Austin Democratic congressional candidate says she was assaulted by the … "Maoist" Red Guards Austin
Heidi Sloan [self-described Democratic Socialist], running for the Democratic nomination for the 25th Congressional District, which includes parts of Austin and western Travis County, wrote on Facebook that a member of a group called the Red Guards Austin shoved her and smashed eggs filled with red paint on her head and on her car after a political canvassing effort in East Austin.

Sloan said she was consulting with lawyers about what to do next as she considers whether to report the matter to police.
“I strongly feel that the carceral system is not always the tool to prevent harm,” she said.
Her Democratic primary opponent says the Red Guard has tried to intimidate her campaign as well.

She has some interesting de-escalation techniques, be sure to read the whole article.

Is she not communist enough for the Red Guards? Just curious how she recognized people later who were wearing masks earlier?

One of the inherent features of the left is the constant competition among factions for who is the most communist commie, Which is really just a power struggle For who gets to decide who goes to the gulags And the firing squad.
