Looks like he is going for the female vote. I was kind of thinking he might pick Ms. hutchinson or ms. Rice but this should do about the same thing.

I just pray that she pulls enough of the women vote to offset the fact that she does nothing to shore up any of the battleground states.

We'll see. It's an interesting choice, to say the least.

I predict Palin will sway a lot of people over the next 67 days. I considered her a way long long-shot (a Palin for VP Website was brought live a few months ago), but she may just complement McCain in many of the right areas. For one thing that's not so minor to us, as Skip said, she and her husband are NRA lifers. I'm a lot more excited now than I would have been with a couple of others that were considered to be on the short list.

My wife and I lived in Palmer, AK, during some of the time Gov. Palin was a city council member and then mayor of Wasilla (a close neighbor to Palmer). We thought a lot of Gov. Palin then and that hasn't changed. She's got some solid views (on issues that matter to us), executive experience, and her Dayton speech with Sen. McCain was inspirational. We may even watch the vice presidential debates. We think she'll be a great VP.

I think the VP debates now become must-see TV. Biden has had a history of letting his mouth run, failing to always think before he speaks. Remember in '88 when he had to face the accusation that the content of one of the stump speeches he made when (unsuccessfully) running for president had been plagiarized? Actually, I have a feeling the two most evenly matched debates might be McCain-Biden, and Palin-Obama.

The big hit against Palin that we're already hearing is that McCain blasts Obama for lack of experience, then picks a VP that has "even less" experience. I put that in quotation marks becasue what we can't forget is that it's extremely rare to see two senators battling for POTUS. In fact, I can't recall offhand when that last happened. Governors are, generally speaking, more electable...because they have executive experience, not legislative. Governors run their states, and that executive experience translates better to the executive role in the oval office. Biden has been a senator since Obama was 11 years old, and neither he nor Obama have any significant private- or public-sector executive experience that I know of.

I'm very excited about her. She's a breath of fresh air. I was wavering on whether or not I was even going to vote, because I'm not all that excited about McCain, but I really like his choice in a running mate. She's vibrant, conservative, has the family values I myself share, and she's pro-life.

I'm really excited about this. As soon as I heard her name on the radio, I saw the nails that will be used on the lid of the democratic campaign coffin. :thumbs2:
