It looks like it would be cheaper to pay sales tax, usually less than 10%
That's what I am thinking. I am probably going to pick up a Spike's lower up at the gun show weekend after next for $85. I did jump all over the MOE lpk for $124.00 though.

I use the guys at AMSS on Jones Rd.
I appreciate the suggestion but a 30% transfer fee is too rich for my blood.

In addition, it appears AMSS will only transfer one lower per day. :headscratch

Let us know where we can pick up a lower around here for less than $71.95 of good quality. $49.95(lower) + $15(transfer fee) + $7(shipping)= $71.95

You can get gun show lowers at reasonable prices year-round, support the locals and small guys, support your state (tax), still have to pay a door fee...but a sale is a sale...apply all the math and reason you want, $71.95 bottom line is hard to beat. Now if I can find one of those mystical $5-10 FFL transfers, I'd be even happier.

You can find really good deals if you're patient. Some people bought lowers & parts during the Obama scare 2-3 years ago and now realize they need cash more thanks to the Obama reality.

That was my plan, but when I saw the $50 price I couldn't pass it up. I was going to pick up either a SOG lower or buy one from TX Tactical (they're real close to here) but the sale tempted me too much.

Guy up on Stuebner Airline does the mythical $10 transfer if you join his web site, $5 if you become a 'supporter'. I'd use him, but I'm way on the other side of town and there's a guy a few miles away that does them for $15 (and is a member of this board) for CHL holders. Figure it would cost me more than $5 to drive up there and back anyway.

They charged me $15 on a firearm that I paid $500 for which comes to 3%.

Use tax is the same amount, so there's no real saving there.

Has anyone received their shipping info yet? Ordered mine on 9/4, no info yet. I bet they're backlogged with such a good sale though.

No info on mine. But I'm in NO hurry for it so NBD. It's going to sit until I'm ready to start another 'project' anyway.
